MEET THE DIRECTORS

DAWN HERRON

Director of Orchestras

 

A native Texan, Dawn Herron received her education from Sam Houston State University graduating Cum Laude.  There she studied with Mr. Andrew Wilson, Dr. Carol Smith and Dr. Lisa Burrell.  As a performer, Mrs. Herron has traveled to Eastern Europe performing in Hungary, Austria and Czech Republic.  As a conductor, she has participated in master classes with Gary Lewis and Larry Rachleff.  Mrs. Herron has received many accolades as an orchestra director. In 2008, her orchestra was selected to perform at TMEA as the Honor Full Orchestra.  Mrs. Herron is currently in her ninth year of teaching and is serving as Director of Orchestras for her first year at Kleb Intermediate in Klein ISD. Prior to this school year, Mrs. Herron was the Director of Orchestras at Doerre Intermediate. Under her baton, Doerre received numerous UIL Sweepstakes awards, as well as Best in Class Awards.  The Doerre Orchestras consistently placed in the finals for the Texas State Honor Orchestra competition. In 2015 and 2013, the Doerre Varsity Orchestra received the Mark of Excellence Award and in December of 2014, the full orchestra was selected to perform at the Midwest Clinic and Conference Convention in Chicago, Illinois. She holds memberships in TMEA and TODA.

LUKE JACKSON

Assistant Director

 

Luke Jackson received his Bachelors of Music from the University of North Texas, where he performed in a variety of string, wind, and percussion ensembles. After graduation, Mr. Jackson spent three years teaching in Fort Bend ISD before moving to Klein ISD.  Mr. Jackson loves working with the gifted students at Kleb Intermediate and is excited about where the program is headed!

 

When not teaching, Mr. Jackson enjoys spending time with his wife and new daughter.  His hobbies include making and listening to music and woodworking.  Mr. Jackson’s favorite musical artists include Chris Thile, Gustav Mahler and Dmitri Shostakovich.
